Wisen compiles publicly available pricing information from NZ and Australian agencies, freelancers, and industry publications. This page documents the methodology, sources, and limitations of the research across all three reports.
All pricing data was gathered through direct research of publicly available agency websites, pricing pages, and published industry benchmarks between November 2025 and May 2026. Where agencies do not publish pricing, figures have been extrapolated from stated ranges by comparable providers in the same market tier.
NZ-specific benchmark data for paid advertising is limited compared to Australian market data. Where NZ-specific figures are not available, estimates have been derived by applying known market discount factors (NZ CPCs run approximately 14% below the US average per WordStream research) to Australian or global benchmarks. These estimates are clearly marked.
All figures are presented as indicative ranges, not guarantees. Individual quotes will vary based on scope, provider, client relationship, and market conditions at the time of engagement.
Package pricing was gathered from publicly listed agency pages. Per-post rates are compiled from freelancer platforms, agency pricing pages, and industry surveys. Hourly rate benchmarks reflect commonly quoted rates across both markets from mid-2024 to early 2026.
Build cost ranges reflect quoted and published pricing from NZ and AU web design agencies researched in March–May 2026. Maintenance plan pricing is drawn from Australian agency care plan pages (Visual Web, Rocking Web, Small Biz Web Design) and NZ equivalents (MyTechGuy, Alpine Studio). First-year cost estimators are constructed from the midpoints of build and maintenance ranges plus estimated hosting and plugin costs.
Google Ads CPC and CTR benchmarks for New Zealand are sourced primarily from Web Antler NZ's 2026 benchmark report (April 2026), which draws on active NZ campaign data. Australian Google Ads figures are from multiple sources including Rocking Web AU, Grove Foundry AU, and Ape-X AU. Global benchmarks are from ALM Corp's 2026 Google Ads industry benchmark report (May 2026), which covers 23 industries.
Meta Ads benchmarks draw on Rocking Web AU's 2026 Meta report (8,400+ Australian ad accounts), Digital Applied's 2026 Facebook benchmark analysis, Lebesgue AI's CPM-by-country data (2026), and Triple Whale's industry benchmark report (2025, updated April 2026). NZ-specific Meta data is not available at industry level — AU figures are used as the closest available proxy.
